Jarett plays third base for Rocky Mountain High School, and I had the opportunity to take his senior photos over the weekend. There was instant connection between he and I for the obvious reason that we both play and love the game of baseball. We started the shoot at his high school field where he felt right at home both literally, and figuratively. Jarett has the right combination of personality and self-awareness; very comfortable in his own skin and is quite confident, but not cocky. That would be extremely important to me in a scouting role trying to determine player mental make-up, but it turns out it helps when sitting in front of a camera too. He gave me the most genuine emotion to work with, and it showed in the images. Our session was cut short due to a thunderstorm and we’ll finish perhaps later this week, but after spending some time with him it was apparent to me that Jarett is not just a ball player. He’s a stand-up individual with a moral fabric that a lot of adults could stand to have more of. My hat is off to you J, and I can’t wait to finish out session!
