My son and I went to the store yesterday after school and per usual we hit the fruit/veggie isle first. We both stopped in our tracks when we saw something neither of us had ever seen before. Speaking more to himself than anyone he said, "Wow, that looks awesome!" I agreed, and he said, "Well, what is it?" In true dad-knows-everything fashion using my best Darren McGavin voice, I peaked at the display card and said, "Why it's a Dragon Fruit!" When he asked what it tasted like I said, "Let's find out, shall we?" We both wanted to try some, but I wanted to grab my camera and photograph it.
I wasn't sure how I'd go about doing so, and said as much on my Facebook feed when a friend of mine, in typical fashion said, "Okay, so there should be this little button near the top of your camera....get the picture all lined up, mash that button, and you should be good to go!" My boy Jimmy, I think you're right. And so was Patrick Black, a better photographer than I'll ever hope to be (he's shot for NASA, literally). Well boy's here's to mashing the button after a little diffusion. I give you...Dragon Fruit.
